The River House in Michigan

"We had dinner and everyone was extremely happy with their meals! The burgers were juicy, the fish was crispy and the fries were incredibly well seasoned while still being fluffy. The waitress was extremely pleasant with our kids and accommodating. I specifically had the Bacon Jam Burger. I'm rather critical of burgers but this was easily one of the best I've ever had - nothing was skimped on. We can't wait to come back now and we hope to see River House become an institution of Mio for a long time."

"Great food and great service. Our server Judy was on top of things. Really great server prompt drink and food delivery. She did come back to check on things. I used to be a front of the house trainer and a Chef. Food was amazing. Went with my husband who use to be a chef also. He was very happy. Stop on in see for yourself. You will not regret it."

"Wow!! Beautiful place in Mio and beautiful and delicious food. This place is completely renowned and has a modern menu with traditional classics. Chicken soup was delicious Charcuterie board was yummy- just needed a little jam Hubby had a bacon jam burger. Yummy! —- 2nd time here had the house Cabernet which was very good. I also had the chicken Marsala that was delicious. Thank you Judy !"

"The table had the following. Cod fish and chips with coleslaw, chicken tenders with fries and coleslaw, create your own burger (medium well) with fries, and a create your own burger (medium rare) with fries. The fries were good, they have a seasoned coating. The coleslaw according to the table was good. I personally did not try it. The cod was moist, beer batter dipped that stayed on the fish. Please keep in mind you get two fair size pieces of Cod. I think they could have added a 3rd piece but it was good. The chicken tenders were good with a lite flavorful batter. They were not thick pieces of chicken but you get plenty of them. The chicken was also juicy. Now for the burgers. Both burgers were cooked spot on. They were not just cooked correctly but the patties were clearly seasoned. If you want a good burger come here for they did a great job. The only thing I would say needed adjusting was how thick the onion slice was for the burger. It was almost as thick as the patty. I would cut them a bit thinner so they do not over power the burger. They had a nice toasted bun and the burgers did reach the edge of the buns. I was very pleased considering a couple nights before I had one from a different place and was very disappointed."

"Friendly staff, excellent service, and taste fully decorated. Nice variety of cocktails, wines, beers, and even non-alcoholic cocktails. They have happy hour for some drink discounts and entrees are reasonably priced. Unfortunately I only tried the weekly special, pork tacos, and so I cannot rate them 5 stars. Lots of pork, but nothing special and a little dry. That said, I hope to return and try a regular menu item. The presentation is nice and cloth napkins a plus."

"After our fascinating visit to Land of Nostalgia in Mio, I can only say a huge thank you to the owner for recommending this restaurant to us! What an amazing kitchen and chef this place has! We were totally blown away by the quality of the food we ordered. I had the stuffed cabbage while my husband had the chicken pot pie. We are such passionate “foodies” and to come across a place with such obvious excellence was a sheer delight! We can’t wait to go back and try out the bread and butter pudding which we literally had no room left for!! Sharing a photo of the chicken pot pie. "We came back for lunch today and the burger was hot. I had to sit back and try to remember when I had an actual hot burger. Funny when you think about it. Our wonderful waitress Rachal was beyond helpful and kind. This is the place to come for good tasting food and a relaxing atmosphere."
